Spabond 400 Fast Hardener is a rapid-curing component manufactured by Gurit, designed for universal use with all structural adhesive resins in the Spabond 400 Series (including Spabond 435, 440, 445, and 400FR). This range replaces the legacy 300 series hardeners.
Key Technical Specifications
- Mix Ratio: 3:1 by volume (or 100:30 by weight) with the series resins.
- Pot Life: Approximately 30 minutes at 20°C (for a 500g mix in air).
- Clamp Time: Between 3.5 and 4.5 hours at 20°C to reach initial handling strength.
- Visual Indicator: Highly pigmented to ensure a homogeneous, streak-free mix.
- Thermal Performance: Achieves a cured glass transition temperature (Tg) of 80-90°C after post-cure.
Application Limits & Safety
- Exotherm Risk: Do not apply in thicknesses exceeding 20 mm. Do not leave quantities larger than 100g sitting in the mixing pot to prevent hazardous overheating.
- Health & Safety: Formulated with lower-toxicity raw materials to improve workplace safety. However, it causes severe skin burns and eye damage (H314) and may cause allergic skin reactions (H317). Always wear gloves and eye protection.
